The calculation of the non-cohesive sediment transport is based on the type of material:
· Uniform sand
The transport is calculated based on the assumption that the sediment in the bed only consists of one size of grains, specified by the mean grain diameter and the fall velocity.
· Graded sand
The transport is calculated based on the assumption that the sediment in the bed can be described by a grain curve, specified by the mean grain diameter and a grading coefficient (sediment spreading).
· Shingle sized sediment
The transport is calculated based on the assumption that the sediment in the bed only consists of one size of large grains, specified by the mean grain diameter. Any suspended load is not considered but effects of inertia forcings on the individual grain particle are included.
Presently it is not possible to mix the different types of sediment within one simulation.
