Ackers & White Transport Formulation

The dimensionless total-load transport rate Ggr is calculated as

(5.1)   m21st_ref_man00001.jpg

in which C, m and A are model parameters that depend on the dimensionless particle size, Dgr, defined as

(5.2)   m21st_ref_man00004.jpg

where d is the grain size, g is gravitational acceleration, s is the relative density of the bed sediment and n is the kinematic viscosity of water.

Fgr is a general sediment mobility number defined as

(5.3)   m21st_ref_man00007.jpg

where Uf is the total shear velocity, h is the water depth, V is the depth-averaged current velocity. n is a constant that also depends on Dgr and ranges from 0 for coarse material to 1 for fine material.

The transport parameter Ggr is defined as

(5.4)   m21st_ref_man00010.jpg

where X is the sediment mass flux per unit mass flow rate.
