Relative Density of Sediments

The relative density of the bed material s is defined as the ratio between the density of the sediment rs and that of water r.

The transport formulations used by MIKE 21 ST have been developed for sand. The relative density of bed material specified should therefore be within the range of 2.50-2.70.

MIKE 21 ST will accept values of s in the range from 1.65 to 3.65; care should be exercised in the interpretation of the model results for light (m21st_ref_man00094.jpg) and heavy (m21st_ref_man00097.jpg) materials.
