Sensors

The Control Module for MIKE HYDRO Basin has been introduced in its first version for Release 2019 update 1. Customized measurements are introduced, which give the possibility to output user defined quantities as mathematical expressions. They involve the use of sensors and/or external time series values.

A sensor corresponds to the encapsulation of the measurement of a given quantity into a variable. Currently, it can only be selected for displaying output. However, it is planned to expand sensors to be used by the simulation for decision rules or to be part of a mathematical expressions.

The Sensors table is displayed in the Control->Sensors tree page as shown in Figure 9.13.

A sensor requires the following parameters:

1.       Name: The identifier of the sensor.

2.       Model object type: The type of model element to be measured by the sensor with the choices:

a.       Branches

b.       River nodes

c.       Water users

d.       Hydro power plants

e.       Reservoirs

f.         Catchments.

3.       Model object ID specifies the model object to connect the sensor to. The options are filtered according to the 'Model object type' chosen previously. If the chosen model object type is not present in the model, no choice will be offered for the parameter. Therefore, it is required to choose a model object type, which is present in the basin model.

4.       Sensor: the actual quantity to be measured. It is related to the 'Model object ID' chosen previously.

An unlimited number of sensors can be added. Furthermore, they can be deleted by selecting them and clicking the '-'-button.
