White capping

White capping is primarily controlled by the steepness of the waves. It is important that white capping is included in you model simulation. By excluding the white capping you may, however, evaluate its impact on the establishment of an equilibrium sea state.

The breaking wave dissipation source function is detailed described in the Komen et al. (1994) and includes two free parameters; Cdis and DELTA dis.

If white capping is included you have to specify the two dissipation coefficients, Cdis and DELTAdis. The Cdis coefficient is a proportional factor on the white capping dissipation source function and thus control the overall dissipation rate. The DELTAdis coefficient is controlling the weight of dissipation in the energy/action spectrum.
