The effects of rivers, intakes and outlets from power stations etc. can be included in a simulation. These sources and sinks are included in the hydro­dynamic equations in the following way:

·         If your source or sink has a magnitude of Q m3/s, then the additional term on the right hand side of the continuity equation is

·         If, for sources, you specify a speed of V m/s in direction q, then the addi­tional term on the right hand side of the momentum equations are

where qNYC is the orientation of the model (see Orientation (p. 116)).
